Competency-based Professional Learning

Hello there,

We're excited to share a success story from Harmony Public Schools in Texas. BloomBoard has been working with Harmony to unify their professional development, teacher licensure, incentive-based pay, and educator evaluation systems into one cohesive career pathway system. By creating a first-of-its-kind vision for educator success and development, Harmony is ensuring that all teachers have a pathway for growth, whether they stay in the classroom or move on to a leadership role.

Our work with Harmony along with other districts and states helped inform the development of our latest series of guides, Redefining Educator Career Pathways, that we developed with the American Institutes for Research. Part one talks about the problem with current career pathways in teaching and provides a vision of a new approach.

I hope you'll take a moment to ready Harmony Public Schools' success story and download the first guide in our series on redefining career pathways.

Thanks,

Sanford Kenyon
CEO, BloomBoard

Harmony Public Schools
Micro-credentials for Career and Compensation Advancement

Harmony Public Schools had been exploring ways to provide educators with performance-based compensation and career advancement opportunities to improve teacher effectiveness, retention, and satisfaction. A big focus was to ensure that leaving the classroom was not the only path to moving up the career and compensation ladder. The district wanted to help teachers develop throughout their careers while adding incentives to stay in the classroom. Find out how they took a phased approach to redefining career pathways across the organization.

DEFINING MICRO-CREDENTIALS

To Be or Not To Be a Micro-credential

Sometimes the best way to explain what something is by also explaining what it isn't. We find this helpful when talking about micro-credentials and what makes them distinctly different than traditional PD.
