Best, Sanford Kenyon CEO, BloomBoard Featured Blog The Shift Towards Competency-based Professional Learning School districts continue to send educators to workshops and conferences to learn, but if you think about it, it’s the worst possible way to learn. It’s usually a full day of some "expert" communicating a ton of content to a bunch of people sitting in an uncomfortable room. But at the end of the day, the chances of your folks applying it to their own work is incredibly low. BloomBoard's president and cofounder refers to this as a "strategy of hope." And it clearly isn't hopeful enough — as a result, we’re seeing a very exciting shift towards a competency-based learning model that allows for better learning, retention, and application. Featured Program Teaching with Google G Suite More than half of K-12 schools have “Gone Google.” Districts can now bring a competency-based professional development program designed to help educators demonstrate mastery of the use of Google’s G Suite for Education tools to improve teacher efficiency and student learning.
